International Calling
Even just a few international calls can really increase your business long distance phone bill. So a few pointers to help you keep international calling costs down are:
- Make sure you have 6 second billing on your international plan, this means that your calls are rounded to the next 6 seconds, instead of the next minute. This can dramatically reduce costs. However keep in mind that you may still be subject to a 30 second minimum on many international calling plans.
- Try not to place international calls to cell phones when possible, as international calls to cell phones are now charged at a much higher rate by almost every carrier. Call clients and associates on land lines instead whenever possible.
- Choose a carrier that does not charge you an extra fee just to get low international rates. This is a common trick of some of the major international calling service providers.
- Choose a plan that offers the same rates 24 hours a day. This will prevent you from having to watch when you call so you don’t get caught out calling at so called peak times when the rates are higher.
