The Trade Show: To attend or Not to Attend?

A trip to a cool locale where an industry related trade show is being hosted may sound like a great idea. However, there are actually many compelling reasons to attend a trade show.

A trade show is a proven method for introducing a new product line or unveiling special offers to consumers and distributors. The right trade show can even be the perfect venue for launching a brand new business.

While many exhibitors expect to receive a lot of orders for product at a trade show, often that is not the case. In many industries, few orders are taken on the trade show floor. Rather the show is an opportunity to raise company and product awareness and promotion.

A trade show can also be a valuable way of pre-selling your product. Visitors can receive some preliminary information that you can follow up with a post show action. When your sales representative or telemarketer calls on a prospective customer, the prospect will be more likely to respond having already been introduced to your company and its product.

Attending a trade show can open many doors to getting your company name and product out in the market place to a target audience of current and new customers, sales representatives, distributors, media people and other players in your market. However for your attendance to be a worthwhile expense you must have clear objectives and goals and know exactly why you are participating. Then plan a strategy to help you meet those objectives.
